It has been a long time since I've been in a comic book store, but apparently a cult classic is coming to the big screen next weekend.WARNING: This is NOT a movie for kids. As if the name didn't tell you that already, the R-rating should.
Kick-Ass (I'm not thrilled with the name, by the way) is the story about what might happen if ordinary folks like you or I tried to become super hero crime fighters. Think of Kick-Ass as the anti-comic book super hero summer movie. It won't be a super block buster like Spiderman, Bat-Man, or Iron Man, but it will garner support of comic shop going geeks (yes, even the retired ones like me) everywhere.
The think that I like about this movie is that the events of the film could really happen if someone was crazy enough to try it. Think about it. Bruce Wayde and Tony Stark don't have any super powers; yet Bat-Man and Iron Man are just two of the hottest comic book properties making the rounds. And that is why I've always liked "regular" superheros too - because, just maybe, it could happen in real life.
Kick-Ass hits theaters this coming Friday, April 16th. You can check out the trailers on the Apple QuickTime website.
