MacBook Undergoes Surgery, Full Recovery Expected

I woke this morning to find that a small piece of the top surface of my white Apple MacBook had cracked!

The cracked plastic shard, about the size of a tooth pick, formed along the small ridge just above the IR port. The crack in the plastic likely came from constant daily use as the crack formed right where my right palm would come to rest on the case. The crack formed, just by coincidence, right where the nub on the monitor casing meets the top surface when the lid is closed.

With a small dab of Crazy Glue, and a steady hand, I was able to glue the shed of plastic back on to the Mac. The good news is that the plastic piece never broke completely off the Mac. The bad news is that if the crack really did form because of the constant pressure on the case, it will likely happen again.

Not much will change in the short term, but in the long term, I think I just decided that my next MacBook won't be the current 13-inch white edition. Rather, I will likely get the 13-inch metal MacBook Pro or the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Both of these Macs are beautiful pieces of hardware, and have the price tag to go along with it, however, I love my Macs and I do use them every day. Having hardware with such a well though out design, and metal case, should me happy for a long time to come.

Oh, and about my MacBook pulling through surgery? Well, in the time it has taken to write this blog post, the glue has set and we're ready to rock and roll again.
